Description
The Knightsbridge IN0010 is a 16A three-way industrial splitter with a 2-pole plus earth configuration, rated IP44 for protection against dust ingress and water splashes. The unit features one input socket and three output sockets, all housed in a blue and white impact-resistant polypropylene casing with hinged covers on each outlet to protect against moisture when not in use.
Designed for construction sites, outdoor events, workshops and temporary power distribution, the splitter allows one 16A industrial plug to feed three separate circuits simultaneously. The IP44 rating permits outdoor use in exposed conditions where rain and dust are present, though the unit should not be submerged or exposed to direct high-pressure water jets. The bright blue housing improves visibility in low-light environments and on busy sites where multiple power distribution points are in use.
The unit measures 224mm x 217mm across its three-outlet configuration, with each outlet oriented at 120° intervals around the central hub to reduce cable strain and tangling. The white central body houses the internal terminals and earth bonding, while the blue outlet covers snap closed over each socket when not in use. The 2-pole plus earth design ensures live, neutral and earth continuity across all three outputs, meeting BS EN 60309-2 industrial connector standards for 240V AC distribution.

Frequently Asked
What does IP44 mean for outdoor use?
IP44 provides protection against solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashes from any direction. The splitter can be used outdoors in rain and dusty conditions, but should not be submerged, left in standing water, or subjected to high-pressure water jets. When not in use, close the hinged covers over each outlet to maintain the IP44 protection.
Can all three outlets be used at full 16A load simultaneously?
The splitter is rated at 16A total, not 16A per outlet. The combined load across all three outputs must not exceed 16A (3,680W at 230V). Exceeding this will overload the input circuit and trip the upstream protection device.
What type of plug and socket standard does it use?
The splitter uses BS EN 60309-2 industrial connectors, commonly referred to as CEE or commando connectors. These are the blue 16A 2P+E industrial plugs and sockets widely used on UK construction sites and industrial installations, not standard 13A domestic plugs.
Is it suitable for permanent outdoor installation?
The IP44 rating makes it suitable for temporary outdoor use and semi-permanent installations where it can be sheltered from direct weather exposure during extended periods of non-use. For fully permanent outdoor installations exposed to severe weather year-round, a higher IP rating (IP65 or above) would provide better long-term protection.
