Description
The Knightsbridge 13A unswitched fused spur provides a permanent connection point for fixed appliances like cooker hoods, extractor fans, boilers and central heating controls. The unit houses a 13A cartridge fuse behind an antique brass screwless faceplate, with no switch mechanism — once wired, the appliance is permanently live unless the fuse is removed or a separate isolator is switched off.
Designed for residential and commercial installations where appliances need continuous power without user intervention, the unswitched format prevents accidental disconnection and suits applications where the appliance has its own on-off control or timer. The 87.5mm square faceplate fits a standard single-gang 25mm minimum back box and uses a screwless cover that clips onto a separate metal sub-frame, leaving no visible fixings on the wall.
The antique brass finish is a brushed and darkened brass tone with warm brown undertones, designed to pair with traditional, period and heritage-style interiors. The 201 stainless steel construction beneath the finish provides corrosion resistance and structural integrity, while a built-in gasket around the faceplate edge ensures a flush fit against the wall without gaps. The unit is certified to BS 1363-4 and carries a 25-year Knightsbridge guarantee.

Frequently Asked
What's the difference between a fused spur and a socket?
A fused spur is a permanent connection point for hard-wired appliances, not a plug-in socket. The appliance cable is wired directly into the unit's terminals. The 13A fuse protects the appliance circuit, and this unswitched version provides continuous power without an on-off switch.
What back box depth is required?
A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed. The screwless cover plate adds 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted, with 18.5mm recessed into the box.
Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?
Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the unit and re-clipped without disturbing the wiring.
What appliances is it suitable for?
Typical uses include cooker hoods, extractor fans, boilers, central heating controls, intruder alarms, CCTV systems and other fixed equipment drawing up to 13A (3,120W). The unswitched format suits appliances with their own controls or those needing continuous power.
