Description
The Knightsbridge SFR7USB4 is a 13A switched socket with four USB-A charging ports built into a matt black screwless faceplate with a black insert. The USB array delivers 5V DC across a shared 5.1A total output, with one port rated at 2.1A for tablets and three at 1A each for phones and smaller devices. The 13A socket itself is switched, providing control over mains power to the outlet while the USB ports remain live when the switch is off.
Designed for hotel rooms, serviced apartments, home offices and residential bedrooms where multiple devices need charging overnight or during the day, the quad USB layout reduces reliance on plug-in USB adapters that block adjacent sockets. The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate SPCC steel sub-frame fixed to the back box, leaving no visible screws or fixings on the wall once installed. The built-in gasket between the plate and wall surface keeps dust and debris out of the mechanism.
The matt black finish provides a neutral, low-reflectance surface that pairs with dark-toned interiors, industrial-style spaces and contemporary kitchens without the high polish of gloss black or the warmth of brass. The black insert behind the faceplate hides the back of the cover plate and gives a defined edge to the socket and USB apertures. The socket requires a 25-35mm back box depth depending on cable bundle size, and is certified to BS1363-2 for mains sockets and meets EMC and ErP requirements for USB charging.

Frequently Asked
What is the USB charging output?
The four USB-A ports share a total 5V DC 5.1A output. One port is rated at 2.1A for tablets, the other three at 1A each for phones and accessories. Actual charging speed depends on the device and cable used.
Do the USB ports turn off when the socket is switched off?
No. The switch controls only the 13A mains socket. The USB ports remain live regardless of switch position, allowing devices to charge overnight even when the socket switch is off.
What back box depth is required?
A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for straightforward installations. More complex cable runs or larger conductor bundles may require up to 35mm depth to accommodate the wiring behind the mechanism.
Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?
Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate steel sub-frame fixed to the back box. The plate can be unclipped for painting or wallpapering around the socket and re-clipped without touching the wiring.
