Description

The Knightsbridge 13A switched fused spur with neon indicator and flex outlet is a dedicated hardwired control unit for fixed appliances such as kitchen extractors, wall-mounted heaters, and washing machines. The rocker switch isolates the circuit, the red neon indicator shows when power is live, and the flex outlet at the base allows the appliance cable to exit cleanly without needing a separate knockout or grommet.

Designed for installation above worktops, behind appliances, or in utility rooms where a fused spur is required by Part P building regulations, the unit fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth. The screwless cover plate clips onto a metal sub-frame fixed to the back box, giving a clean finish without visible screws or fixings on the wall once installed. The internal fuse holder accepts standard 13A or lower-rated cartridge fuses depending on the appliance load.

The matt white finish is a low-sheen powder-coated steel that resists fingermarks and blends with white or off-white walls in kitchens, bathrooms, and utility spaces. The screwless plate uses a built-in gasket between the cover and sub-frame to prevent dirt ingress at the edge. What is a fused spur used for?

A fused spur provides a dedicated switched and fused connection for a fixed appliance such as a kitchen extractor, bathroom heater, or washing machine. The switch allows the appliance to be isolated without turning off the entire circuit at the consumer unit, and the internal fuse protects the appliance from overload. Part P building regulations often require fused spurs for hardwired appliances in kitchens and bathrooms.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed. The screwless cover plate adds 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted.

What does the neon indicator do?

The red neon indicator above the rocker switch glows when the circuit is live, showing that power is available to the appliance even if the switch is in the off position. This allows you to confirm that the circuit is energised without needing a multimeter.

Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?

Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the spur and re-clipped without re-wiring. The built-in gasket between cover and sub-frame prevents paint or dirt from entering the gap.
