Description

This Knightsbridge 13A switched fused spur combines a fused connection unit with a neon power indicator and a flex outlet aperture behind a brushed chrome screwless faceplate. The rocker switch controls power to the connected appliance, while the neon glows red when the unit is switched on, providing instant visual confirmation of power status.

Designed for fixed-wiring appliances that require a local isolation point — boilers, extractor fans, bathroom heaters, kitchen appliances — the fused spur sits between the ring circuit and the appliance. The flex outlet allows cable to exit through the faceplate rather than threading through the back box, making installation cleaner where surface-run cable is needed. The unit accepts a standard 13A BS 1362 cartridge fuse (replaceable via the fuse carrier marked on the rocker), protecting the connected appliance from overcurrent.

The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate steel sub-frame fixed to the back box, leaving no visible fixings on the wall once installed. The brushed chrome finish is a directionally-brushed satin surface that reduces fingerprint visibility compared to polished chrome, and pairs with both warm and cool-toned interiors. The 87.5mm square faceplate requires a 25mm minimum back box depth and is certified to BS 1363-4. Knightsbridge backs the unit with a 25-year warranty.

Frequently Asked

What is a fused spur used for?

A fused spur provides a fused connection point for fixed-wiring appliances like boilers, extractor fans, and wall-mounted heaters. It allows the appliance to be isolated locally without needing to switch off the entire ring circuit at the consumer unit.

What does the flex outlet do?

The flex outlet is a cable aperture in the faceplate that allows surface-run cable to exit cleanly through the front of the unit rather than threading through the back box. This is useful when the appliance cable needs to run visibly along a wall or skirting.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed. The screwless cover plate adds 4.3mm projection from the wall once fitted onto the sub-frame.

Can the neon be disabled?

The neon is integral to the switched rocker and glows red when the unit is switched on. It cannot be disabled without replacing the rocker mechanism, which is not user-serviceable.
