Description

The Knightsbridge 13A switched fused spur combines a fuse holder, rocker switch, neon indicator and flex outlet behind a black nickel screwless faceplate. The fused spur isolates and protects fixed appliances such as wall-mounted boilers, extractor fans, electric towel rails and kitchen appliances, with the neon confirming live supply when the switch is on and the flex outlet providing cable entry without drilling through the plate.

Designed for residential, commercial and light industrial installation, the unit fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth and uses a screwless cover plate that clips onto a separate metal sub-frame. This means there are no visible screws or fixings on the wall once installed, giving a cleaner finish than traditional screw-fixed plates. The 13A fuse rating protects circuits feeding appliances up to 3,000W on 230V mains. The unit is certified to BS 1363-4 for safety and compatibility with UK wiring standards.

The black nickel finish provides a dark metallic accent that pairs with industrial, modern and monochrome interiors. The premium-grade steel faceplate measures 87.5mm square with a 4.3mm projection from the wall once fitted, sitting flush with adjacent switches and sockets in the same range. The built-in gasket between the sub-frame and cover plate prevents dust ingress behind the plate on plastered walls.

Frequently Asked

What is a fused spur used for?

A fused spur isolates and protects fixed appliances on a dedicated circuit. Common applications include wall-mounted boilers, extractor fans, electric towel rails, under-cabinet kitchen appliances and outdoor lighting. The 13A fuse provides overcurrent protection for the appliance without needing a separate plug and socket.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The screwless cover plate adds 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted.

What does the neon indicator show?

The neon illuminates when the switch is in the on position and live supply is present at the fuse holder. This confirms the appliance circuit is energised. The neon does not indicate whether the fuse has blown — if the neon is lit but the appliance does not work, check the fuse condition.

Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?

Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the fused spur and re-clipped without re-wiring. The built-in gasket maintains dust protection when re-fitted.
