The Knightsbridge fused spur is a 13A switched fused connection unit, in a textured sand black metalclad finish.

A fused spur takes a permanent supply from a circuit and protects a single fixed appliance through its own cartridge fuse, providing a fused connection point with a neon and flex outlet where specified.

It is constructed from pressed steel, with an earth terminal for a compliant installation. It is certified to BS 1363-4 and IP20 rated for indoor use.

What is a fused spur used for?

A fused spur provides a fused connection from a circuit to a single fixed appliance — such as an extractor fan, towel rail, boiler or cooker hood — with a built-in cartridge fuse protecting that appliance independently of the main circuit fuse.

How do you wire a fused spur to a ring main?

The spur is taken from the ring final circuit into the FEED/supply side of the unit, and the appliance connects to the LOAD side; the cartridge fuse is rated to suit the appliance. Installation should be carried out by a competent person in accordance with BS 7671.

How do you change the fuse in a fused spur?

Switch off and isolate the circuit, prise out the fuse carrier on the front of the unit, replace the cartridge fuse with one of the correct rating, and refit the carrier.

Most ovens are supplied via a dedicated cooker circuit and control switch rather than a 13A fused spur; a 13A fused spur suits smaller fixed appliances. Always check the appliance rating before connecting.
