Description

The Knightsbridge 13A switched fused spur unit combines a rocker switch, fused connection point and flex outlet behind a white 9mm square edge plate with antimicrobial protection. A red neon indicator sits above the switch and fuse, showing at a glance when the circuit is live. The flex outlet at the base allows cable to exit the unit for appliances that need a visible cord run rather than fixed wiring behind the wall.

Designed for fixed appliances like extractor fans, water heaters, condensing boilers and under-cabinet kitchen lighting, the fused spur allows an appliance to be switched and protected by a fuse independent of the ring main circuit. The 13A rating handles loads up to 3,120W at 230V. The neon indicator confirms power status without needing to test the circuit, which is useful for appliances installed out of sight or in ceiling voids.

The 9mm white thermoset resin plate uses screw cap covers to hide the fixing screws once installed, giving a flush appearance on the wall. The antimicrobial treatment is tested to ISO 22196:2011 and reduces bacterial growth on the surface, making the unit suitable for kitchens, bathrooms, care facilities and commercial environments where hygiene matters. The IP20 rating restricts use to dry indoor locations only.

Frequently Asked

What is a fused spur used for?

A fused spur provides a switched and fused connection point for a fixed appliance like an extractor fan, boiler, water heater or under-cabinet lighting. It allows the appliance to be isolated and protected by its own fuse independent of the ring main circuit.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed. The 9mm plate projection is measured from the wall surface once the back box is installed.

Can this be used in bathrooms?

The IP20 rating restricts use to dry indoor locations only. It cannot be installed within bathroom zones where water contact is possible. For bathroom extractor fans, install outside the designated zones or use an IP-rated pull-cord switch instead.

What does the antimicrobial treatment do?

The antimicrobial treatment reduces bacterial growth on the surface of the plate. It is tested to ISO 22196:2011 and is particularly useful in kitchens, care facilities and commercial environments where hygiene is a priority.
