Description
The Knightsbridge 13A switched fused spur unit controls fixed appliances such as extractor fans, heated towel rails, and water heaters from a single fused connection point. The rocker switch is marked 'FUSE' to indicate function, and a red neon indicator above the switch illuminates when the circuit is live, providing visual confirmation before maintenance or appliance replacement.
Designed for residential kitchens, bathrooms (outside zones), utility rooms, and commercial installations where fixed appliances need individual isolation, the unit fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth. The screwless black nickel faceplate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame, concealing all fixings for a clean wall finish. The integrated fuse holder accepts a standard 13A cartridge fuse, which can be replaced without disconnecting the wiring.
The black nickel finish is a dark gunmetal tone that sits between polished chrome and matt black, pairing well with contemporary, industrial, and monochrome interiors. The premium-grade steel construction carries a 25-year warranty and meets BS 1363-4 safety standards for fused connection units. The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor locations outside bathroom zones requiring IP44 or higher.

Frequently Asked
What appliances is this suitable for?
The 13A rating makes it suitable for extractor fans, heated towel rails, bathroom heaters, washing machines, dishwashers, and other fixed appliances drawing up to 3,000W. It is not designed for socket outlets or portable appliances.
What does the neon indicator show?
The red neon indicator above the rocker switch illuminates when the circuit is live, regardless of switch position. This confirms that power is reaching the unit even when the switch is off, useful before replacing an appliance or fuse.
Can it be used in bathrooms?
The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor locations. In bathrooms, the unit must be installed outside splash zones and at least 600mm from the edge of a bath or shower. For zones requiring IP44 or higher, an enclosed fused connection unit is needed instead.
Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?
Yes. The black nickel faceplate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the unit and re-clipped without re-wiring.
