Description

The Knightsbridge 13A switched fused spur unit provides double pole isolation for fixed appliances like water heaters, extractor fans, electric radiators and kitchen equipment. Built to BS 1363-4 standard, the unit features a polished chrome faceplate with gently rounded edges, a matching rocker switch and a fuse holder that accepts a standard 13A cartridge fuse (supplied with the unit).

Designed for residential and light commercial installations, the fused spur is typically wired above worktops, behind appliances or in utility areas where visible isolation of mains power is required. The double pole switching isolates both live and neutral conductors when turned off, providing a higher level of safety than single-pole switching for high-draw or permanently wired appliances. The unit requires a 25mm minimum back box depth and the premium-grade steel faceplate is fixed with visible screws at top and bottom.

The polished chrome finish provides a bright, reflective surface that pairs well with chrome taps, handles and other kitchen or bathroom metalwork. The rounded edge profile softens the appearance compared to square-edge alternatives and sits flush to the wall with a 7.5mm projection from the mounting surface. An integrated gasket behind the faceplate improves protection against dust ingress and provides a neater seal to painted or tiled walls.

Frequently Asked

What is a fused spur used for?

A fused spur provides a switched, fused connection point for fixed appliances like water heaters, extractor fans or electric radiators. It isolates the appliance from the mains when switched off and protects the circuit with a replaceable 13A cartridge fuse.

What does double pole switching mean?

Double pole switching isolates both the live and neutral conductors when the unit is turned off, providing complete electrical isolation. This offers greater safety than single-pole switching, which only breaks the live conductor.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is required for installation. The faceplate projects 7.5mm from the mounting surface once fitted.

Is this fused spur screwless?

No. The polished chrome faceplate is secured with visible screws at the top and bottom of the plate. For screwless alternatives in similar finishes, search the Knightsbridge range on the Niori site.
