Description

The Knightsbridge 13A switched fused spur unit provides switched control and fused protection for hardwired appliances such as extractor fans, boilers, immersion heaters and dishwashers. The unit houses a standard 13A fuse cartridge behind a polished brass screwless faceplate, with a rocker switch and a red neon indicator that illuminates when the circuit is live.

Designed for residential, commercial and hospitality installation, the fused spur replaces a standard socket outlet where an appliance requires permanent connection to the mains. The switch allows the appliance to be isolated without pulling a plug, while the fuse provides overcurrent protection at the point of use. The neon indicator provides instant confirmation that the circuit is powered, useful for appliances that are silent or concealed behind cabinetry.

The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box, giving a clean finish with no visible fixings once installed. The polished brass finish provides a warm metallic accent that pairs well with traditional, classical and warm-toned contemporary interiors. The unit is certified to BS 1363-4 and requires a standard 25mm minimum back box depth for installation. Knightsbridge backs the unit with a 25-year warranty.

Frequently Asked

What is a fused spur unit used for?

A fused spur provides switched control and fused protection for appliances that are hardwired into the mains rather than plugged into a socket. Common applications include extractor fans, boilers, immersion heaters, dishwashers and kitchen appliances that sit behind cabinetry or in fixed positions.

What does the neon indicator show?

The red neon indicator illuminates when the circuit is live, regardless of whether the switch is on or off. It confirms that mains power is reaching the unit, useful for appliances that are silent when off or concealed behind panels.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The screwless cover plate adds approximately 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted.

Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?

Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the unit and re-clipped without re-wiring.
