Description

The Knightsbridge 13A switched fused spur unit with neon indicator combines a surface-mounted switch, a 13A fuse holder, and a flex outlet at the base of the plate. The red neon indicator illuminates when the switch is on, giving visual confirmation that the connected appliance is receiving power. The flex outlet exits from the bottom of the plate, allowing cable to run directly into the wall cavity or down to skirting level.

Designed for fixed appliances that do not need a plug-and-socket connection, the spur suits kitchen extractor hoods, wall-mounted heaters, water heaters, hardwired hobs, and bathroom ventilation fans. The unit replaces a socket outlet where a fused connection is required for safety or where the appliance manufacturer specifies hardwired installation. The 13A rating handles loads up to 3,120W on 230V mains.

The white thermoset resin plate has rounded edges and a 10mm projection from the wall. The extra depth accommodates the cable exit at the base while keeping the plate flush with the switch mechanism. The plate carries anti-microbial properties tested to ISO 22196:2011, reducing bacterial growth on the surface in kitchens, utility rooms and healthcare settings. The unit fits a standard 25mm back box and includes screw cap covers and a gasket for professional installation.

What is a fused spur unit used for?

A fused spur provides a switched, fused connection for fixed appliances that do not use a plug and socket. What does the flex outlet at the base do?
