Description

The Knightsbridge 13A switched fused spur unit combines a double-pole switch, neon indicator and flex outlet behind a polished chrome rounded edge faceplate. The fused spur provides a dedicated switched connection for fixed appliances such as boilers, cooker hoods, extractor fans and under-counter fridges, allowing them to be isolated without accessing the consumer unit.

The neon indicator glows when the circuit is live, giving immediate visual confirmation that power is reaching the unit even when the downstream appliance is off. The flex outlet at the base of the faceplate allows cable to exit directly from the unit rather than looping back to the wall, keeping the installation tidy where appliances are surface-mounted or wall-hung. The double-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when turned off, providing safer isolation than single-pole alternatives.

The polished chrome finish gives a mirror-like reflective surface that suits traditional, classical and high-gloss contemporary kitchens. The rounded edge profile softens the transition between the faceplate and the wall, and the matching chrome rocker and fuse holder create a unified visual finish. The unit is certified to BS 1363-4 and rated IP20, making it suitable for dry indoor environments. A built-in gasket behind the faceplate reduces dust ingress and improves the seal against the mounting box.

Frequently Asked

What's the difference between a fused spur and a socket?

A fused spur is a fixed connection point for hard-wired appliances, whereas a socket accepts plug-in devices. The fused spur includes a fuse holder (typically 3A or 13A depending on the appliance load) and a switch to isolate the appliance without unplugging. It's used for boilers, cooker hoods, extractor fans and other permanently installed equipment.

What does the neon indicator show?

The neon glows when the circuit is live, confirming that mains power is reaching the unit. This allows you to verify the supply is connected even when the downstream appliance is switched off or faulty.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The faceplate projects 7.5mm from the wall once fitted.

What other finishes are available in this range?

Knightsbridge produces this switched fused spur style in a range of finishes including brushed chrome, matt black, polished brass, antique brass and white. Use the search function or filters to find other variants in stock at Niori.
