Description

The Knightsbridge 13A switched fused spur unit provides a switched, fused connection point for hardwired appliances behind a black nickel screwless faceplate. The rocker switch controls power to the connected appliance, while the integrated fuse holder takes a standard 13A cartridge fuse to protect the circuit. The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame, leaving no visible fixings on the wall once installed.

Designed for permanent appliance connections in kitchens, utility rooms and commercial settings, the fused spur is typically used for extractor fans, cooker hoods, water heaters, waste disposal units and other fixed appliances that need to be switched but not unplugged. The 13A rating handles continuous loads up to 3,120W on a 230V 50Hz supply. The unit fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth and is certified to BS 1363-4 for compliance with UK wiring regulations.

The black nickel finish is a dark gunmetal tone with a satin lustre, sitting between matt black and polished chrome in reflectivity. The premium-grade steel construction gives the faceplate a flat, smooth surface with minimal projection from the wall — just 4.3mm once the cover plate is clipped on. The matching fuse holder and rocker sit flush with the faceplate, maintaining the low-profile appearance. An IP20 rating makes the unit suitable for dry indoor locations, and the 25-year warranty covers manufacturing defects.

Frequently Asked

What appliances is a fused spur used for?

Fused spurs are used for hardwired appliances that need a permanent connection rather than a plug socket. Common applications include extractor fans, cooker hoods, electric water heaters, waste disposal units, electric towel rails and bathroom extraction fans. The switched version allows the appliance to be isolated without needing to access a consumer unit.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is required for safe installation. The screwless cover plate adds 4.3mm of projection from the wall once clipped onto the sub-frame.

Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?

Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame that is fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the fused spur and re-clipped without disturbing the wiring.

What other finishes are available in this range?

Knightsbridge produces this switched fused spur in multiple finishes including polished chrome, brushed chrome, polished brass, antique brass, matt black and white. Use the search function or filters at Niori to find other variants in stock.
