Description
The Knightsbridge 13A switched fused spur unit provides fixed-appliance connection behind an antique brass square edge faceplate with matching rocker switch and fuse holder window. The double pole switch isolates both live and neutral lines when switched off, offering complete electrical isolation for hardwired appliances such as extractor fans, boilers, wall-mounted heaters and kitchen appliances.
Designed for residential and commercial installations where an appliance requires permanent mains connection with local switching control, the unit accepts a standard 13A fuse cartridge (replaceable through the front-facing fuse holder window without removing the faceplate). The square edge design sits flush against the wall surface with visible screw fixings at each corner, giving a traditional rather than screwless finish. The built-in gasket between plate and wall ensures a tight seal around the back box aperture.
The antique brass finish is a warm, aged metallic tone with subtle oxidation detail that pairs well with traditional, Arts and Crafts, Victorian and heritage interiors. The premium grade steel construction provides durability in high-traffic areas, and the plate dimensions of 89mm square match standard single-gang UK wiring accessory sizing. Certified to BS 1363-4 and carrying a 25-year warranty, the unit fits a 25mm minimum back box depth and includes screw terminals for ring-main wiring.

Frequently Asked
What is a fused spur used for?
A fused spur provides a permanent mains connection for hardwired appliances such as extractor fans, boilers, wall heaters, cooker hoods and kitchen appliances. The switched version allows local isolation without needing to switch off at the consumer unit. The 13A fuse protects the appliance circuit from overload.
Can the fuse be replaced without removing the faceplate?
Yes. The fuse holder window on the front of the plate allows the 13A cartridge fuse to be accessed and replaced without disconnecting wiring or removing the faceplate from the back box.
What back box depth is required?
A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The faceplate adds 10.5mm of projection from the wall once fitted.
Is this square edge or screwless?
This is a square edge plate with visible screw fixings at each corner. Knightsbridge also produces screwless versions of fused spurs in similar finishes — use the search function or filters to find screwless variants in stock at Niori.
