Description

The Knightsbridge 13A fused spur unit is fitted with a 3A fuse and a flex outlet at the base, allowing a cable to exit downwards for permanent appliance connections. The white square edge plate measures 86mm x 86mm with a 9mm projection from the wall, and is constructed from thermoset resin treated with anti-microbial additives tested to ISO 22196:2011.

Designed for fixed appliance connections in kitchens, utility rooms, bathrooms and commercial installations where equipment needs fused protection at the connection point rather than at the plug. The 3A fuse rating suits appliances drawing up to 690W on 230V, including extractor fans, bathroom fans, under-cabinet lighting, towel rails and some boilers. The flex outlet allows cable to run directly into the unit without emerging from behind the faceplate.

The square edge design sits flush with the wall rather than featuring a rounded profile, giving a contemporary finish that pairs with modern interiors. Screw cap covers are included to hide the fixing screws once installed. The anti-microbial treatment inhibits bacterial growth on the surface, making this a practical choice for food preparation areas, healthcare settings and anywhere hygiene standards matter. The unit fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth and carries a 25-year manufacturer warranty.

Frequently Asked

What is a fused spur unit used for?

A fused spur unit provides a permanent connection point for fixed appliances, adding fused protection at the appliance rather than relying on a plug fuse. Common applications include extractor fans, bathroom fans, under-cabinet lighting, towel rails and some central heating controls.

What appliances can be run on a 3A fuse?

A 3A fuse protects appliances drawing up to 690W on 230V mains. This covers most extractor fans (typically 15-50W), LED under-cabinet lighting (typically 10-30W), bathroom fans (typically 20-40W) and low-wattage towel rails.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for installation. The 9mm plate projection means the total depth from the wall surface to the front of the faceplate is 9mm once fitted.

What does the anti-microbial treatment do?

The thermoset resin is treated with additives that inhibit bacterial growth on the surface, tested to ISO 22196:2011. This reduces the risk of bacteria colonising the faceplate in environments where hygiene matters, such as kitchens, bathrooms and healthcare settings.
