Description
The Knightsbridge 13A fused spur unit provides a switched fused connection for fixed appliances such as water heaters, extractor fans, kitchen appliances and hand dryers. The polished chrome faceplate has rounded edges and a matching polished chrome fuse holder cap, fitting a standard BS 1362 13A fuse cartridge (included). The built-in gasket sits between the faceplate and back box to reduce dust ingress around the edges.
Designed for residential kitchens, utility rooms, bathrooms (outside zones requiring IP44+), and commercial installations where fixed appliances need dedicated switched-fuse protection, the unit isolates the appliance when switched off and provides overcurrent protection via the replaceable fuse. The 25mm minimum back box depth suits standard single-gang metal pattress boxes, and the screw-fixed faceplate allows for straightforward replacement or redecorating access.
The polished chrome finish provides a reflective metallic surface that pairs with chrome taps, handles and other fittings in kitchens and bathrooms. The rounded-edge profile softens the wall projection compared to flat-edged plates and gives a slightly more refined appearance in contemporary and transitional interiors. Certified to BS 1363-4, the unit meets UK wiring regulations for fused connection units and carries Knightsbridge's 25-year warranty.

Frequently Asked
What appliances is this suitable for?
The 13A fused spur is suitable for fixed appliances drawing up to 3,000W on 230V mains supply, including kitchen appliances, water heaters, extractor fans, under-cabinet lighting and hand dryers. It provides both a switch and fuse protection in one unit.
Is the fuse replaceable?
Yes. The polished chrome fuse holder cap unscrews to reveal a standard BS 1362 13A fuse cartridge. The fuse can be replaced without isolating the circuit, though it is safer to switch off at the consumer unit before removing the fuse holder.
What back box is required?
A standard single-gang metal pattress box with a minimum 25mm depth is required. The faceplate fixes to the back box with two screws visible on the front of the plate.
Can this be used in a bathroom?
The IP20 rating means the unit is suitable for dry indoor locations only. In bathrooms it must be installed outside zones 0, 1 and 2 (typically at least 600mm from bath or shower edges). For locations within bathroom zones, an IP44-rated or higher fused spur is required.
