Description
The Knightsbridge 13A fused spur unit provides a switched fuse connection point for permanently wired appliances behind an ultra-low-profile polished chrome flat plate. At just 2.5mm projection from the wall, the flat plate sits nearly flush with the mounting surface, making it one of the thinnest metal electrical accessories available. The matching polished chrome fuse holder maintains visual consistency across the face of the unit.
Designed for hard-wired appliances such as kitchen extractors, bathroom fans, underfloor heating controls, boilers and water heaters, the fused spur isolates the appliance circuit and allows the fuse to be changed without accessing the main consumer unit. The built-in gasket between the plate and the back box provides a dust seal and helps achieve the IP20 rating, making the unit suitable for dry indoor locations including kitchens, utility rooms and offices.
The 13A rating handles appliance loads up to 3,000W on 230V mains supply. Certified to BS 1363-4, the unit fits standard 25mm minimum depth back boxes and uses premium-grade steel construction beneath the polished chrome finish. The chrome surface provides a high-gloss reflective finish that pairs with contemporary and minimalist interiors, and matches other polished chrome accessories in Knightsbridge's Flat Plate range.

Frequently Asked
What is a fused spur used for?
A fused spur provides a permanent switched connection for hard-wired appliances such as cooker hoods, bathroom extractors, water heaters, underfloor heating and boilers. It allows the appliance to be isolated without switching off the circuit at the consumer unit, and houses a replaceable fuse sized to the appliance load.
What back box depth is required?
A minimum 25mm back box depth is needed. The flat plate adds just 2.5mm projection from the wall once installed, making it suitable for shallow wall cavities and surface-mounted installations where projection needs to be minimised.
Does it include a neon indicator?
No. This model does not have a neon indicator light. If a visual indication of power status is needed, Knightsbridge offers alternative fused spur models with neon indicators in the same Flat Plate range.
What fuse rating should I use?
The unit accepts standard BS 1362 cartridge fuses. Use a 3A fuse for appliances up to 720W, a 5A fuse for loads up to 1,150W, or a 13A fuse for appliances between 1,150W and 3,000W. Always match the fuse rating to the appliance manufacturer's specification.
