Description

The Knightsbridge 13A fused spur unit provides switched fused isolation for fixed appliances behind a polished brass flat plate with a matching polished brass fuse holder. The unit is rated at 13A and certified to BS 1363-4, designed for permanent wiring to boilers, extractor fans, wall-mounted ovens, dishwashers and similar appliances that require fused protection separate from the ring circuit.

Built as an ultra-flat plate with only 2.5mm projection from the wall once fitted, the unit sits almost flush with the plaster surface. The design uses premium-grade steel construction rather than a plastic faceplate, giving a more substantial feel and better long-term finish retention. A built-in gasket sits between the plate and the back box to prevent dust ingress and improve the seal against the wall surface.

The polished brass finish gives a warm metallic accent suited to traditional, classical and heritage interiors where brass door furniture, light switches and electrical accessories form part of a coordinated scheme. The matching polished brass fuse holder maintains the finish across the entire visible surface. The unit fits standard 25mm minimum back box depth and includes an earth terminal for metal appliance chassis bonding. The IP20 rating makes it suitable for dry indoor locations only.

Frequently Asked

What's the difference between a fused spur and a standard socket?

A fused spur unit provides a dedicated, permanently-wired connection point for a fixed appliance rather than a plug-and-socket arrangement. The fuse inside the unit protects the cable run to the appliance independently of the main ring circuit fuse. Spurs are typically used for built-in ovens, extractor hoods, boilers and dishwashers.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is required for safe installation. The ultra-flat 2.5mm projection of the plate means the total depth from the wall surface once fitted is approximately 27.5mm.

Does it have a neon indicator?

No. This model has no neon indicator light. The switch position shows whether the spur is on or off.

Can the polished brass finish be matched with other accessories?

Yes. Knightsbridge produces a full range of switches, sockets and accessories in the same polished brass flat plate finish, allowing coordinated installation across a room or property. Use the search function or filters to find other polished brass products in stock at Niori.
