Description

The Knightsbridge CS6BC is a 13A fused spur unit with a brushed chrome faceplate and square edge design, built from premium-grade steel with a directional brushed finish. The unit provides a switched or unswitched fused connection point for fixed appliances such as boilers, extractor fans, electric towel rails and wall-mounted heaters that need permanent hard-wired supply rather than plug-and-socket connection.

Designed for residential and light commercial installation, the spur unit fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth and uses screw terminals for cable connection. The built-in gasket between the faceplate and back box provides IP20 environmental protection, preventing dust ingress behind the plate. The fuse holder accepts a standard BS 1362 cartridge fuse, typically fitted with a 3A or 13A fuse depending on the appliance load.

The brushed chrome finish provides a mid-tone metallic surface that sits between polished chrome and satin nickel, offering moderate reflection without the high-gloss sheen of polished finishes. The square edge design gives a clean 90-degree profile where the faceplate meets the wall, creating a defined geometric outline that pairs well with contemporary interiors and other Knightsbridge square edge accessories. The unit is certified to BS 1363-4 and carries a 25-year warranty.

Frequently Asked

What's the difference between a fused spur and a switched socket?

A fused spur provides a permanent hard-wired connection for fixed appliances like boilers or extractor fans, with the fuse protecting the circuit downstream. A switched socket provides a plug-and-socket connection for portable appliances. Fused spurs are typically used where an appliance needs to be hard-wired into the mains rather than plugged in.

What fuse rating should I use?

The fuse rating depends on the appliance load. Most boilers and small fixed appliances use a 3A fuse. Higher-draw appliances like electric towel rails or wall heaters may need a 13A fuse. Consult the appliance manual or an electrician to confirm the correct rating.

Is this switched or unswitched?

This unit includes a rocker switch visible on the faceplate. The switch isolates the supply to the connected appliance, allowing it to be turned off without removing the fuse or isolating the circuit at the consumer unit.

What other finishes are available in the square edge range?

Knightsbridge produces the square edge fused spur in multiple finishes including polished chrome, brushed chrome, matt black, white, and antique brass. Use the search function or filters at Niori to find other variants in stock.
