Description

The Knightsbridge 13A fused spur unit provides a permanent fused connection for fixed appliances such as extractor fans, boilers, immersion heaters and kitchen appliances that require isolated switching. The unit features a brushed chrome flat plate design with a matching fuse holder, offering a 2.5mm ultra-low profile projection from the wall once fitted to a standard 25mm back box.

Designed for residential and commercial installations where appliances need dedicated fused protection separate from the main consumer unit, the spur accepts a standard BS 1362 13A fuse and is rated to 230V 50Hz. The flat plate construction uses premium-grade steel with a brushed chrome finish that resists fingerprints and pairs with modern, industrial and contemporary interiors. A built-in gasket between the plate and back box improves dust resistance to IP20 standard.

The 87.5mm square faceplate matches standard UK switch and socket dimensions, allowing the spur to sit alongside other Knightsbridge flat plate accessories in the same finish without visual breaks. The unit is certified to BS 1363-4 and carries a 25-year warranty. Installation requires connection to the fixed wiring on the load side, with the fuse protecting the downstream appliance circuit.

Frequently Asked

What is a fused spur used for?

A fused spur provides a permanent fused connection for fixed appliances like extractor fans, boilers, immersion heaters and kitchen appliances. It allows the appliance to be isolated and fused separately from the main ring circuit, which is required by wiring regulations for certain installations.

What back box depth is required?

A minimum 25mm back box depth is needed for safe installation. The flat plate adds 2.5mm of projection from the wall once fitted, giving an overall depth of 27.5mm from the finished wall surface to the face of the plate.

Does this unit include a switch?

No. This is an unswitched fused spur unit. The appliance connected to it remains permanently live once the circuit is energised, with isolation available only at the consumer unit or via a separate switch in the circuit. Switched versions are available separately in the Knightsbridge range.

What fuse does it take?

The unit accepts a standard BS 1362 13A cartridge fuse, the same type used in UK plug tops. The fuse holder is accessible from the front of the plate once the cover is removed.
