Description

The Knightsbridge 13A fused spur unit features a brushed brass flat plate with a matching fuse holder and built-in gasket for fixed appliance installation. The unit is certified to BS 1363-4 and carries a 13A rating, making it suitable for powering hardwired kitchen appliances, boilers, extractor fans and water heaters where a switched connection with overcurrent protection is required.

Designed for residential and commercial installations, the fused spur fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth and provides a low-profile 2.5mm projection from the wall once installed. The flat plate construction uses a single piece of pressed steel with no separate cover plate or screws visible on the front surface, giving a clean finish across walls. The built-in gasket sits between the plate and the wall surface to reduce dust ingress behind the plate.

The brushed brass finish provides a warm metallic accent that pairs with traditional, classical and warm-toned contemporary interiors. The steel construction carries a 25-year warranty and is rated IP20 for indoor dry locations. The matching fuse holder accepts a standard 13A BS 1362 fuse cartridge (not included) and provides visual confirmation of the fuse status when the unit is opened for maintenance.

Frequently Asked

What is a fused spur used for?

A fused spur provides a switched, fused connection for fixed appliances like boilers, kitchen extractors, water heaters and hardwired white goods. It isolates the appliance from the ring main and provides overcurrent protection via the fuse cartridge, so the appliance can be serviced without switching off the entire circuit.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The flat plate adds 2.5mm of projection from the wall once fitted, giving an overall depth of 27.5mm from the wall surface.

Does it come with a fuse?

No. The unit accepts a standard 13A BS 1362 fuse cartridge, which is sold separately. Most installations use a 13A fuse for high-load appliances or a 3A/5A fuse for lower-power devices like extractor fans.

What other finishes are available in this range?

Knightsbridge produces this flat plate fused spur in a range of finishes including polished chrome, brushed chrome, polished brass, matt black and white. Use the search function or filters to find other variants in stock at Niori.
