Description
The Knightsbridge 13A fused spur unit provides a switched, fused connection for fixed appliances such as boilers, cookers, immersion heaters and extractor fans. The unit features an antique brass square-edge faceplate with visible screw fixings and a matching fuse holder that accepts a standard 13A BS 1362 cartridge fuse. A built-in gasket sits between the faceplate and the wall, reducing dust ingress and providing a cleaner finish around the edge.
Designed for residential and commercial installation, the spur suits locations where fixed appliances need an isolated, fused supply without using a standard socket outlet. The switched design allows the appliance to be isolated for maintenance without accessing the consumer unit. The 89mm square faceplate fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth and uses screw terminals for both live, neutral and earth connections.
The antique brass finish is a mid-tone brass with a deliberately aged patina, showing darker tonal variation across the brushed surface. This finish pairs well with traditional, period and heritage interiors where polished brass or chrome would appear too contemporary. The premium-grade steel construction carries a 25-year warranty and the unit is certified to BS 1363-4, confirming compliance with UK wiring regulations for connection units rated up to 13A at 230V 50Hz.

Frequently Asked
What is a fused spur used for?
A fused spur provides a switched, fused connection for fixed appliances like boilers, cookers, immersion heaters or extractor fans. It allows the appliance to be isolated without turning off the circuit at the consumer unit, and the fuse protects the appliance and cable from overcurrent.
What fuse does it take?
The unit accepts a standard BS 1362 13A cartridge fuse, the same type used in UK plug tops. The fuse rating should match the appliance load — many installers use a 3A or 5A fuse for lower-draw appliances like extractor fans or boilers.
What back box depth is required?
A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The faceplate projects approximately 10.5mm from the wall once fitted.
Is the square-edge design screwless?
No. The square-edge range uses visible screw fixings. For a screwless finish, see the Knightsbridge screwless fused spur range available separately at Niori.
