Description
The Knightsbridge 13A fused module is a grid insert designed to provide circuit protection for fixed appliances such as washing machines, dishwashers, extractor fans and bathroom heaters. The module houses a replaceable 13A BS1362 fuse behind an anthracite faceplate marked 'FUSE', and clips into a Knightsbridge grid mounting frame (sold separately) from the front without needing to remove the frame from the wall.
Designed for residential, hospitality and light commercial installation, the module fits any Knightsbridge grid system configuration — single-gang, double-gang or larger multi-gang frames. The clip-in design allows modules to be added, replaced or rearranged within the frame after initial installation, making it useful in kitchens, utility rooms and bathrooms where appliance positions may change. The 13A rating handles standard UK fixed appliance loads up to 3,120W.
The anthracite finish is a dark grey-black that provides a neutral accent across both contemporary and traditional interiors, pairing with stainless steel appliances, white goods and both light and dark cabinetry. The ABS body and steel terminals give the module structural rigidity while keeping weight minimal. The IP20 rating suits dry indoor locations; for higher IP-rated protection in bathrooms or outdoor settings, see Knightsbridge's IP-rated grid ranges.

Frequently Asked
What is a grid module and what frame does it need?
Grid modules are individual electrical components (switches, sockets, fused spurs, dimmers) that clip into separate mounting frames, allowing multiple functions to be combined in a single faceplate. This module requires a Knightsbridge grid frame, sold separately, in single-gang, double-gang or larger configurations depending on how many modules you need to install together.
What appliances is this suitable for?
The 13A fused module suits any fixed appliance drawing up to 3,120W at 230V, including washing machines, dishwashers, tumble dryers, extractor fans, bathroom heaters and kitchen waste disposal units. The fuse provides short-circuit and overload protection for the appliance circuit.
Can the fuse be replaced?
Yes. The module uses a standard BS1362 13A fuse, the same type found in UK plug tops. The fuse can be accessed by removing the module from the frame (it clips in and out from the front) and opening the fuse holder at the rear.
Is it suitable for bathrooms?
The IP20 rating makes this module suitable for dry indoor locations only. For bathroom installation outside zones 0-2 (such as an extractor fan switch outside the bath/shower area), it may be acceptable under BS7671 regulations, but an IP44 or higher-rated module provides better moisture protection. Consult a qualified electrician for bathroom circuit design.
