Description

The Knightsbridge 13A DP key lockable socket provides two switched 13A outlets behind a key-operated rotary control that locks power on or off. The brushed chrome faceplate has a white insert, rounded edges and visible screw fixings. Two keys are supplied with the socket, allowing power to be enabled or disabled without needing to access the back box wiring.

Designed for hotels, student accommodation, serviced apartments, public waiting areas and shared workspaces where control over mains power is required, the socket prevents unauthorised use of outlets while maintaining a finished installed appearance. The rotary key mechanism locks in the on and off positions, with the key removable in either state. Double-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when the socket is switched off, providing additional safety over single-pole switching.

The brushed chrome finish is a linear-grain metal surface that softens reflections compared to polished chrome, pairing well with modern commercial and residential interiors. The white insert behind the faceplate hides the back of the cover plate and gives a defined edge to each outlet aperture. The premium-grade steel construction is rated for frequent use in high-traffic environments, with a 25-year manufacturer warranty covering materials and workmanship.

Frequently Asked

How does the key lock mechanism work?

The rotary key control has three positions: off, on, and a neutral centre position. Turning the key fully left or right locks power in the off or on state. The key can be removed in either the on or off position, preventing unauthorised changes to the power state. Two keys are supplied with each socket.

What back box depth is required?

A minimum 35mm back box depth is needed for safe installation. The faceplate adds 7.5mm of projection from the wall once fitted, with a 34mm recessed depth behind the mounting surface.

Is this socket screwless?

No. This is a traditional screw-fixed faceplate with visible screws at each corner. Knightsbridge also produces screwless variants in other ranges if a screw-free finish is required.

Can the key be overridden without accessing the back box?

No. The key mechanism is designed to prevent tampering from the front of the socket. Changing the power state requires the key. Replacement keys can be ordered from Knightsbridge if the originals are lost.
