Description

The Knightsbridge 4-gang extension lead provides four 13A child-protected sockets on a 2m cable, housed in a white thermoset resin casing with a red neon power indicator. Each socket is rated for up to 13A (3,120W) individually, with a combined total load limit of 13A across all four outlets when used simultaneously. The child-protected shutters require simultaneous insertion of both live and neutral pins before the shutters open, preventing single-pin insertion by children or accidental contact with live parts.

Designed for domestic kitchens, home offices, living rooms and workshops where multiple appliances need temporary power from a single wall socket, the extension lead's compact 248mm length and angled socket edges allow multiple plugs to sit side-by-side without interfering with each other. The neon indicator glows red when the extension is powered, providing a visual confirmation that the unit is live even when no appliances are drawing current. The 2m cable length reaches from floor-level sockets to worktops or desks without creating excessive slack.

The thermoset resin construction resists impacts, heat and everyday wear better than standard thermoplastic housings. The matt white finish minimises visible scuffing and pairs neutrally with white or off-white walls and skirting boards. The extension lead is certified to BS 1363-2, the British Standard for adaptors and extension leads, confirming compliance with UK electrical safety requirements. The low-profile 28mm height reduces the risk of the extension tipping when fully loaded with heavy plug-top transformers.

Frequently Asked

Can I plug four high-wattage appliances in at the same time?

Each socket is rated for 13A individually, but the total combined load across all four sockets must not exceed 13A (3,120W). For example, you can safely run a kettle (2,400W) and a toaster (800W) simultaneously, but adding a third high-draw appliance would exceed the 13A limit and risk tripping the plug fuse or creating a fire hazard.

What does the neon indicator show?

The red neon glows when the extension lead is connected to a live wall socket, regardless of whether any appliances are plugged in or switched on. This confirms the unit is receiving power and alerts you if the extension is still live after appliances have been switched off.

Are the sockets child-protected?

Yes. Each socket has internal shutters that require both the live and neutral pins to be inserted simultaneously before the shutters open. This prevents children from inserting single objects into the socket apertures and reduces the risk of accidental contact with live parts.

Can this be used outdoors?

No. The IP20 rating means the extension lead is suitable for dry indoor locations only. It is not weatherproof and should not be used in bathrooms, outdoors, or in any location where it could be exposed to moisture or rain.
