This Knightsbridge 13A 2-gang switched socket integrates two USB-A charging ports with LED charging status indicators behind a brushed chrome screwless faceplate with a grey insert. The LED indicators display red when charging, green when charged, and turn off when idle, giving visible feedback on device charge state without needing to check the device itself.

Designed for kitchens, home offices, bedrooms and hotel rooms where visible charge status is useful, the socket fits standard 25-35mm back boxes depending on cable volume. The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame, giving a clean wall finish without visible fixings. Each of the two 13A outlets can handle standard UK appliance loads up to 3,120W, while the dual USB-A ports share a 5V DC 2.4A output for phone and tablet charging.

The brushed chrome finish is a low-sheen directional brushed stainless steel that resists fingerprints better than polished finishes and pairs with both cool-toned contemporary and warmer transitional interiors. The grey insert behind the faceplate hides the back of the cover plate and gives a defined edge to each outlet aperture. The socket is EMC certified and ErP ready, meeting current energy-related product regulations for standby power consumption.

The LED indicators display red when a device is actively charging, green when the device is fully charged, and turn off when no device is connected or when the device has stopped drawing power. This provides visible charge status without needing to check the device screen.

What back box depth is required?

A minimum 25mm back box depth is required for installations with minimal cable volume. For most UK installations with standard cable runs, a 35mm back box is recommended to accommodate the socket depth and leave adequate space for wiring.

What is the USB charging output?

The dual USB-A ports share a 5V DC 2.4A output, providing up to 12W of charging power total across both ports. When two devices are connected, the available current is split between them. For optimal charging speeds, use certified USB cables.

Is the screwless plate removable?

Yes. The brushed chrome cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame that is fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for decorating around the socket and re-clipped without disturbing the wiring.
