Description

The Knightsbridge SN9000S is a 13A 2-gang single-pole switched socket with twin earth terminals behind a white square edge faceplate. The single-pole switching isolates the live conductor when the socket is turned off, while the twin earth terminals provide two separate earthing connection points for enhanced safety in installations where additional earthing integrity is required.

Designed for residential, commercial and healthcare environments, the socket fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth and uses a 9mm square edge plate moulded from thermoset resin with inherent anti-microbial properties tested to ISO 22196:2011. The anti-microbial additive is integrated into the plastic itself rather than applied as a surface coating, meaning it remains active throughout the 25-year warranty period. Top access captive terminals allow cables to be terminated without removing the socket from the back box.

The white square edge design provides a clean 90-degree profile against the wall with no radiused corners or bevelled edges, giving a flush finish that suits modern commercial fitouts, clinical spaces and contemporary residential interiors. The socket is certified to BS 1363-2:2016+A1:2018 and carries ASTA approval (License No. 1412), confirming compliance with UK wiring regulations. Each outlet is rated at 13A, handling standard appliance loads up to 3,120W. Screw cap covers are included to hide fixing screws once installation is complete.

Frequently Asked

What's the difference between single-pole and double-pole switching?

Single-pole switching isolates only the live conductor when the socket is turned off. Double-pole switching isolates both live and neutral, providing additional safety for high-draw appliances. This socket uses single-pole switching, which is standard for most UK residential and commercial installations.

What are twin earth terminals used for?

Twin earth terminals provide two separate earthing connection points within the socket. This allows for ring main continuity earthing plus an additional dedicated earth for the socket itself, improving earthing integrity in installations where multiple earth paths are required or where the socket feeds sensitive equipment.

Is the anti-microbial property permanent?

Yes. The anti-microbial additive is integrated into the thermoset resin during manufacture, not applied as a surface coating. It remains active throughout the product's lifespan and has been tested to ISO 22196:2011 standard.

What does ASTA approval mean?

ASTA approval (License No. 1412) confirms the socket has been independently tested to BS 1363-2:2016+A1:2018 standard and meets UK wiring regulations for safety, performance and durability. It's a third-party certification recognised by electricians and building inspectors across the UK.
