The Knightsbridge 13A 2-gang SP switched socket incorporates two USB-A charging ports behind a brushed chrome screwless faceplate with a white insert. The single-pole switching isolates the live conductor when switched off, and the dual USB-A ports share a 5V DC 2.4A output for charging phones, tablets and other low-voltage devices without occupying a mains socket.

Designed for residential, office and hospitality environments, the socket fits a 35mm minimum back box depth and uses a screwless cover plate that clips onto a separate metal sub-frame. This conceals all fixings once installed, leaving a smooth brushed chrome surface flush with the wall. The white insert behind the faceplate provides a defined edge around each outlet and switch aperture, pairing the chrome finish with neutral-toned interiors.

The brushed chrome finish is a directional grain applied to premium-grade steel, offering a cooler metallic tone than brass finishes and pairing comfortably with stainless steel kitchen appliances and contemporary grey or white colour schemes. What back box depth is required?

A 35mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The screwless cover plate adds 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted, giving a total depth of approximately 39mm from the wall surface to the front of the faceplate.

What's the difference between SP and DP switching?

Single-pole (SP) switching, as used on this socket, isolates only the live conductor when switched off. Double-pole (DP) switching isolates both live and neutral. For most residential applications SP switching is sufficient and complies with UK wiring regulations.

What's the USB charging output?

The dual USB-A ports share a total output of 5V DC 2.4A. When both ports are in use, the available current is divided between them. For faster charging of newer devices, consider a model with USB-C fast-charge capability.

Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?

Yes. The brushed chrome cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting or wallpapering around the socket and re-clipped without disturbing the wiring.
