Description
The Knightsbridge 13A 2-gang DP switched socket provides two 13A outlets with twin earth terminals behind an anthracite screwless faceplate with a black insert. The dual-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when the socket is switched off, providing additional safety over single-pole switching for high-draw appliances. The twin earth terminals allow daisy-chaining of the earth connection to multiple sockets in a ring main, which is required for certain high-integrity earthing installations.
Designed for residential, office and hospitality installation, the socket fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth and uses a screwless cover plate that clips onto a separate metal sub-frame. This means there are no visible screws or fixings on the wall once installed, giving a cleaner finish than traditional screw-fixed plates. The 13A rating handles standard UK appliance loads up to 3,120W per outlet. The socket meets BS 1363:2 standards and carries IP20 rating for indoor dry locations.
The anthracite finish is a dark grey-black metallic tone that sits between matt black and gunmetal, providing a neutral accent that pairs well with contemporary, industrial and minimalist interiors. The black insert behind the anthracite faceplate hides the back of the cover plate and gives a defined edge to each outlet aperture. The premium-grade steel construction adds durability and weight compared to polymer-fronted alternatives. The built-in gasket around the plate edge seals against the wall surface once fitted, preventing dust ingress behind the plate.

Frequently Asked
What back box depth is required?
A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The screwless cover plate adds approximately 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted.
What are twin earth terminals used for?
Twin earth terminals allow two earth cables to be connected at the socket, which is useful in ring main circuits where the earth connection needs to continue from one socket to the next. This provides higher-integrity earthing than a single terminal.
Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?
Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the socket and re-clipped without re-wiring.
What other finishes are available in this range?
Knightsbridge produces this style in a range of finishes including polished chrome, brushed chrome, polished brass, antique brass, matt black and white. Use the search function or filters to find other variants in stock at Niori.
