Description
The Knightsbridge 13A 2-gang DP switched socket integrates two USB-C fast-charge ports behind a matt black screwless faceplate, delivering up to 65W through a single port or intelligently splitting output to 45W and 18W when both ports are in use. The USB-C ports support USB-PD (Power Delivery) and PPS (Programmable Power Supply) protocols, matching voltage to the connected device automatically.
Designed for home offices, coworking spaces, and hospitality settings where laptops, tablets and phones need regular charging without occupying the 13A outlets, the socket provides dual-pole switching that isolates both live and neutral lines when switched off. The two 13A outlets remain independently switched and rated for standard UK appliance loads up to 3,120W per outlet.
The matt black finish is achieved through powder-coating on SPCC steel, giving a low-sheen surface that resists fingerprints and sits comfortably in monochrome, industrial and contemporary interiors. The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box, leaving no visible fixings on the wall once installed. The 9.7mm projection from the wall and 4.3mm plate depth give the socket a slim profile compared to older screw-fixed designs.
To achieve the full 65W output from a single USB-C port, the connected cable must be rated for 100W or higher. Lower-rated cables will limit charging speed regardless of the socket's capability. When both USB-C ports are in use, the socket automatically divides available power to 45W on one port and 18W on the other, prioritising the device that negotiates power first.

Frequently Asked
What is the maximum charging output?
The socket delivers up to 65W through a single USB-C port when used alone. When both USB-C ports are in use simultaneously, the output splits automatically to 45W on one port and 18W on the other. To achieve full 65W output, the USB cable must be rated for 100W or higher.
What back box depth is required?
A minimum 25mm back box depth is required, with 25-35mm recommended depending on wiring conditions. The socket has a recessed depth of 24.7mm and projects 9.7mm from the wall once installed.
Is the screwless plate removable?
Yes. The matt black cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for redecorating and re-clipped without re-wiring the socket.
What protocols does the USB-C port support?
The USB-C ports support USB-PD (Power Delivery) and PPS (Programmable Power Supply) protocols, allowing the socket to negotiate voltage and current with the connected device automatically. This makes the socket compatible with modern laptops, tablets and phones that support fast charging.
