The Knightsbridge 13A 1-gang unswitched socket delivers a single 13A outlet behind a white 9mm thermoset resin square edge plate. The socket is unswitched, meaning power is always live to the outlet unless isolated at the consumer unit or a separate switched fused spur. This makes it suited to installations where the appliance has its own on/off control or where a permanent live feed is required.

Designed for commercial, education, healthcare and residential installations, the socket carries anti-microbial treatment tested to ISO 22196:2011, inhibiting bacterial growth on the plate surface. This makes it particularly suited to high-touch areas like schools, hospitals, office kitchens, care facilities and communal workspaces where hygiene is a priority. The 86mm x 86mm plate fits a standard UK single-gang 25mm minimum back box and the screw cap covers conceal fixings once installed.

The white thermoset resin construction resists impact, heat and UV degradation better than standard thermoplastics, maintaining colour and structural integrity over time. What does unswitched mean?

An unswitched socket provides a permanent live feed to the outlet. There is no on/off switch on the faceplate itself. Power is controlled either by the appliance plugged into it or by isolation at the consumer unit or a separate fused spur. This configuration is common for appliances that manage their own power state, or where a constant supply is required.

What are the anti-microbial properties?

The plate surface carries anti-microbial treatment tested to ISO 22196:2011, which inhibits the growth of bacteria on the surface. What back box depth is required?

Is this suitable for outdoor use?

No. The IP20 rating means the socket is designed for dry indoor locations only. For outdoor or bathroom installations an IP-rated weatherproof or splash-proof enclosure is required.
