Description
The Knightsbridge 13A 1-gang unswitched socket provides fixed, always-on power behind an antique brass screwless faceplate with a black insert. The unswitched design eliminates the rocker switch, giving a completely flush front surface with no moving parts. The socket is rated to 13A on 230V mains and certified to BS 1363-2 for UK residential and commercial use.
Designed for appliances that need permanent power access without switching, such as TV backboards, kitchen appliance circuits where the appliance has its own switch, or in utility rooms where the power to washing machines or dryers is controlled elsewhere. The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame, hiding all fixings and providing a clean, minimal finish once installed. The socket requires a standard 25mm minimum back box depth.
The antique brass finish is a darker, warmer tone than polished brass, with a low-sheen patina that suits traditional, period and heritage interiors. The black insert behind the faceplate hides the back of the cover plate and defines the socket aperture. The 201 stainless steel construction provides corrosion resistance and durability, backed by a 25-year manufacturer warranty.

Frequently Asked
What's the difference between switched and unswitched sockets?
An unswitched socket provides permanent power whenever the circuit is live, with no rocker switch to isolate the outlet. This suits appliances that have their own power switch or need constant power, such as TVs, AV equipment and some kitchen appliances. A switched socket allows you to cut power at the wall without unplugging.
What back box depth is needed?
A 25mm minimum back box depth is required. The socket has a total depth of 25.9mm, with 21.6mm recessed into the wall and 4.3mm projecting from the wall surface once the screwless plate is fitted.
Is the screwless plate removable?
Yes. The antique brass cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for redecorating and re-clipped without rewiring or removing the socket mechanism.
What other finishes are available in this range?
Knightsbridge produces this style in polished chrome, brushed chrome, polished brass, matt black, white and other finishes. Use the search function or filters to find other variants in stock at Niori.
