Description

The Knightsbridge 13A 1-gang switched socket integrates four USB charging ports behind a polished chrome screwless faceplate with a black insert. The USB array delivers 5V DC at a combined 5.1A shared across all four ports, with one port rated to 2.1A for tablet charging and three ports sharing 3A for smartphones, watches and other low-draw devices.

Designed for bedside tables, desks, hotel rooms and commercial environments where multiple devices need simultaneous charging without occupying the mains outlet, the socket maintains a single 13A switched outlet for lamps, laptops or appliances drawing up to 3,120W. The switch isolates the mains outlet only; the USB ports remain powered continuously. The screwless cover plate clips onto a metal sub-frame, leaving no visible fixings on the wall once installed.

The polished chrome finish provides a reflective metallic surface that pairs with contemporary bathroom vanities, hotel bedside units and modern office interiors. The black insert behind the chrome faceplate conceals the back of the cover plate and defines the edges of each outlet and USB port aperture. The 201 stainless steel construction resists corrosion and surface wear in high-traffic installations, and the integrated gasket between the cover plate and sub-frame reduces dust ingress. The socket is certified to BS1363-2, EMC and ErP standards.

A minimum back box depth of 25-35mm is needed depending on the wiring configuration and cable density. The socket projects 9.5mm from the wall once the cover plate is fitted.

Do all four USB ports deliver 2.1A?

No. One port is rated at 2.1A for tablets, while the other three ports share a combined 3A output for smartphones and smaller devices. The total shared output across all four ports is 5.1A at 5V DC.

Does the switch control the USB ports?

No. The switch controls only the 13A mains outlet. The USB ports remain powered continuously to allow overnight charging without needing to leave the switch on.

Is the screwless plate removable?

Yes. The polished chrome cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for redecorating and re-clipped without re-wiring the socket.
