Description
The Knightsbridge 13A 1-gang switched socket adds four USB charging ports behind a brushed chrome screwless faceplate with a white insert. The USB ports share a total 5.1A output at 5V DC, with one port dedicated to 2.1A for tablets and the other three sharing 3A for smartphones and smaller devices. The single 13A socket handles standard UK appliance loads up to 2,990W.
Designed for kitchens, home offices, hotel rooms and commercial environments where multiple devices need simultaneous charging without occupying the mains socket, the quad USB layout reduces the need for separate plug-in chargers. The socket fits a 25-35mm back box depth depending on cable arrangement and uses a screwless cover plate that clips onto a metal sub-frame, hiding all fixings once installed. The built-in gasket ensures a flush fit against the wall surface.
The brushed chrome finish is produced on 201 stainless steel, giving a satin metallic appearance that resists fingerprints better than polished chrome and pairs with both contemporary and transitional interiors. The white insert behind the faceplate provides a neutral backing that highlights the chrome frame and rocker switches. The socket complies with BS1363-2, carries EMC certification and is ErP Ready, meeting current UK wiring regulations for domestic and commercial installation.

Frequently Asked
What back box depth is required?
A 25-35mm back box depth is needed depending on cable arrangement and the number of wires entering the box. The screwless cover plate adds 9.5mm of projection from the wall once fitted.
How is the USB charging output distributed?
The four USB ports share a total 5.1A output at 5V DC. One port delivers up to 2.1A for tablets, while the other three share 3A for smartphones and smaller devices. The total output across all four ports cannot exceed 5.1A, so charging speed reduces when multiple devices are connected simultaneously.
Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?
Yes. The brushed chrome cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the socket and re-clipped without re-wiring.
What cables should be used with the USB ports?
Use only certified USB cables to maintain full charge performance and safety. The USB ports are Type-A, compatible with standard USB-A to Lightning, USB-C, or Micro-USB cables depending on the device being charged.
