Description
The Knightsbridge 13A 1-gang SP switched socket combines a single 13A outlet with a USB-A charging port rated at 5V DC 2.1A behind a white square-edge faceplate. The single-pole switching isolates the live line when turned off, and the entire faceplate carries an antimicrobial coating tested to ISO 22196:2011, reducing bacterial surface colonisation in high-touch environments.
Designed for residential, hospitality and office installation, the socket fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth (35mm when cable entry requires additional space). The white thermoset resin faceplate is moulded rather than painted, so the colour runs through the material and does not chip or wear. The socket carries a 13A rating per outlet, handling standard UK appliance loads up to 2,990W.
The USB-A port provides 5V output at up to 2.1A, compatible with most smartphone, tablet and portable device charging cables. The square-edge plate design sits flush with the wall surface, giving a clean profile in modern interiors. Screw cap covers are included to conceal fixing screws once the socket is installed, and the socket is certified to BS1363-2 and EN 60950-1 for safe domestic and commercial use.

Frequently Asked
What back box depth is required?
A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for most installations. If cable entry requires additional space, a 35mm back box may be necessary. For surface mounting, pair with the Knightsbridge SN1700 35mm pattress.
What's the USB charging output?
The single USB-A port provides 5V DC at up to 2.1A output, suitable for charging most smartphones, tablets and portable devices. Always use certified USB cables to ensure safe and reliable charging.
What does the antimicrobial coating do?
The faceplate carries an antimicrobial treatment tested to ISO 22196:2011, which reduces bacterial colonisation on the surface. This is particularly useful in healthcare, hospitality and high-traffic commercial environments where surfaces are frequently touched.
Is the white finish moulded or painted?
The white colour is moulded into the thermoset resin, so it runs through the entire faceplate material rather than being applied as a painted surface. This means the finish will not chip or wear through with use.
