The Knightsbridge 13A 1-gang SP switched socket adds two USB-A charging ports behind a brushed chrome flat plate faceplate with a black insert. The single-pole switching isolates the live line when the socket is switched off, with the 13A rating handling standard UK appliance loads up to 2,990W.

Designed for bedside tables, kitchen worktops, hallways and home offices where a single socket and USB charging are needed without running multiple adaptors, the socket fits a standard 35mm minimum back box depth. The flat plate design sits flush to the wall with only 7.8mm projection once installed, giving a lower-profile finish than curved or raised-edge sockets.

The brushed chrome finish is applied to 201 stainless steel, giving a cool metallic tone that pairs with contemporary, industrial and Scandi-style interiors. The black insert behind the faceplate hides the back of the cover plate and defines the edge of each outlet aperture. The dual USB-A ports share a 5V 2.1A output between them, allowing two devices to charge simultaneously at lower current or one device at the full 2.1A rate.

A 35mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The socket projects only 7.8mm from the wall once fitted, giving a low-profile finish compared to deeper curved-edge sockets.

What's the USB charging output?

The dual USB-A ports share a 5V 2.1A output between them. If charging two devices simultaneously, the current is divided. If charging one device, the full 2.1A is available. This is lower than modern USB-C fast-charge outputs but compatible with most phones, tablets and small electronics.

Is this socket screwless?
