Description
The Knightsbridge 13A 1-gang DP switched socket combines a white square-edge plate with a matching white rocker switch and a single 13A outlet. The double-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when the switch is off, providing additional safety over single-pole switching for high-draw appliances. The plate is moulded from thermoset resin with anti-microbial properties tested to ISO 22196:2011, making it suitable for kitchens, bathrooms within the IP20 rating, and high-traffic areas where hygiene matters.
Designed for residential and light commercial installation, the socket fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth and projects just 9mm from the wall once fitted. The 86 x 86mm square-edge profile gives a clean geometric finish that works in both contemporary and traditional interiors. Screw cap covers conceal the fixing screws once the plate is mounted, leaving a smooth white surface with no visible hardware.
The thermoset construction resists discolouration over time and handles the thermal load of a 13A circuit (up to 2,990W) without warping. The white finish pairs cleanly with white or off-white walls and skirtings, making the socket blend into the background rather than stand out. Knightsbridge backs this socket with a 25-year warranty, reflecting the durability of the material and the quality of the internal terminals.

Frequently Asked
What does DP mean on this socket?
DP stands for double-pole. When the switch is turned off, both the live and neutral conductors are isolated, providing an additional level of safety compared to single-pole switching which only breaks the live conductor. This makes DP switching preferable for high-draw appliances like kettles, toasters, and irons.
What back box depth is required?
A 25mm minimum back box depth is required for safe installation. The plate adds 9mm of projection from the wall once fitted, giving a total depth from the back of the back box to the front of the plate of 34mm.
What are the anti-microbial properties?
The thermoset resin is treated with an anti-microbial additive that inhibits bacterial growth on the surface. This has been third-party tested to ISO 22196:2011 and is particularly useful in kitchens, bathrooms and other areas where hygiene is a priority.
Can the screw caps be removed for redecorating?
Yes. The screw caps conceal the fixing screws once the plate is mounted. They can be removed to access the screws for plate removal during redecoration or electrical work, then replaced afterwards to restore the clean finish.
