What bathroom zones can this socket be installed in?

The IP41 rating allows installation in bathroom zones 2 and 3 according to UK building regulations. This means it can be fitted outside the immediate shower or bath enclosure, typically 600mm or more from a bath edge or basin rim. It cannot be installed in zones 0 or 1 (inside or directly above a bath or shower).

Does it work with both UK and US shaver plugs?

Yes. The socket accepts both UK 2-pin shaver plugs and US-style 2-pin plugs. The internal transformer automatically outputs either 115V or 230V depending on which socket is used, so devices designed for either voltage will operate safely.

What back box depth is required?

A minimum 47mm back box depth is required to accommodate the internal transformer and wiring connections. The flat plate itself adds just 2.5mm projection from the wall once installed.

Can it power a hairdryer or heated styling tool?

No. The 20VA output is designed for low-power devices like electric shavers and toothbrushes. Hairdryers, straighteners and other high-wattage appliances require a standard 13A socket outlet and cannot be safely powered from a shaver socket.
