Description

The Knightsbridge dual voltage shaver socket provides both 115V and 230V outlets behind an antique brass square-edge faceplate with a black insert. Certified to EN 61558, the socket is designed specifically for electric shavers and toothbrushes in bathrooms, en-suites and hotel guest rooms where dual-voltage capability is needed for different appliance types.

The socket fits a 47mm minimum back box depth and is rated IP20, making it suitable for Zone 3 bathroom installation (outside the direct spray zones). The dual-voltage switching allows the same outlet to serve 115V North American-spec shavers and 230V European-spec devices without needing separate sockets. The integrated gasket between the faceplate and back box provides a seal against moisture ingress in humid bathroom environments.

The antique brass finish has a warm, aged patina that pairs well with traditional, period and country-style bathrooms, particularly those with brass taps, towel rails or cabinet hardware. What's the difference between 115V and 230V?

The 115V outlet is designed for North American-spec shavers and toothbrushes that run on lower voltage. The 230V outlet serves standard UK and European appliances. The socket provides both voltages from a single faceplate, so you can use either type of device without needing separate installations.

Can this be used in a bathroom?

Yes, with an IP20 rating the socket is suitable for Zone 3 bathroom installation, which is the area outside the direct spray zones (typically 600mm+ from a bath or shower enclosure). The integrated gasket provides additional moisture protection. It should not be installed in Zones 0, 1 or 2 where direct water contact is possible.

What back box depth is required?

A 47mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The faceplate adds 10.5mm of projection from the wall once fitted, giving a total depth of approximately 57.5mm from the wall surface to the back of the back box.
