Description
The Knightsbridge 10AX fan isolator switch provides a dedicated control point for bathroom and utility room extractor fans, allowing the fan to be isolated from the mains supply without affecting the lighting circuit. The switch features a polished brass screwless faceplate with a matching brass rocker, and carries a 10A rating at 230V 50Hz for fans and similar motor loads.
Designed for bathroom, en-suite, utility room and WC installations, the switch allows safe maintenance or cleaning of the fan unit without turning off power to other circuits. The three-pole switching configuration isolates live, neutral and the switched live feed to the fan motor. The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box, giving a clean finish with no visible fixings once installed.
The polished brass finish is achieved through a high-shine plating process on a premium-grade steel base, giving a warm metallic accent that pairs with both traditional brass fittings and contemporary interiors. The 4.3mm projection from the wall keeps the profile low once fitted. A built-in gasket behind the rocker reduces air and dust ingress, and the switch is rated IP20 for dry indoor locations. The 16mm minimum back box depth requirement makes it compatible with standard shallow flush boxes where space behind the wall is limited.

Frequently Asked
What back box depth is required?
A 16mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The screwless cover plate adds 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted.
What does a fan isolator switch do?
A fan isolator allows you to cut power to a bathroom or utility room extractor fan without affecting the lighting circuit. This is useful for fan maintenance, cleaning, or when replacing the fan unit, and is required by wiring regulations in many bathroom installations.
Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?
Yes. The polished brass cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the switch and re-clipped without re-wiring.
