Description

The Knightsbridge 10AX 3-gang 2-way switch features a polished brass flat plate with matching metal rockers, each rocker controlling a separate lighting circuit with independent on/off switching from two locations. The 10AX rating handles up to 2,300W per circuit at 230V, suitable for standard residential and commercial lighting loads including LED, halogen and incandescent circuits.

Designed for rooms requiring multi-circuit control from two switch positions — hallways with switches at both ends, staircases with top and bottom switching, or living rooms with switches at the entrance and the far end — the 3-gang layout allows three circuits to be independently controlled without needing three separate switch plates. The 2.5mm projection from the wall gives an ultra-low profile that sits nearly flush with the plaster, reducing dust collection and snag risk compared to traditional raised-edge switches.

The polished brass finish provides a warm metallic accent that develops a natural patina over time unless regularly polished to maintain the bright gold tone. The flat plate construction uses premium-grade steel, with the rockers and plate sharing the same finish for a continuous surface. A built-in gasket behind the faceplate provides IP20 dust protection and the switch requires a minimum 16mm back box depth for installation.

What does 2-way switching mean?

2-way switching allows each of the three lighting circuits to be controlled from two different switch positions — for example, a hallway light controlled from switches at both ends of the corridor. Each rocker operates independently, so you can have different 2-way configurations for each of the three circuits.

What's the difference between 10AX and 10A switches?

10AX is rated for a higher inrush current than standard 10A switches, making it better suited to lighting circuits with transformers, dimmers or heavy LED driver loads. Both are rated for 2,300W continuous load at 230V.

Does the polished brass tarnish?

Yes. Polished brass develops a natural patina over time through oxidation, darkening to a warm antique tone. This can be maintained by regular polishing with brass cleaner, or left to age naturally depending on preference.
