Description
The Knightsbridge 10AX 2-gang 2-way toggle switch controls two separate lighting circuits, each from two different wall locations, behind a polished brass screwless faceplate. Each gang is rated at 10AX (10 amps on a lighting circuit), handling up to 2,300W per circuit at 230V. The 2-way wiring allows each circuit to be switched from two positions — a landing and stairwell, opposite ends of a hallway, or the entrance and far end of a through-lounge.
Designed for residential and hospitality installation where traditional toggle switches are preferred over rockers, the switch uses a screwless cover plate that clips onto a separate steel sub-frame. This removes visible fixings from the wall once fitted, giving a cleaner finish than conventional screw-fixed plates. The polished brass finish provides a high-reflectivity warm metallic accent that suits traditional, heritage and warm-toned contemporary interiors. The matching brass toggle dollies move with a positive click action and sit recessed within oval apertures cut into the faceplate.
The screwless plate measures 87.5mm square with a 4.3mm projection from the wall and requires a minimum 16mm back box depth for safe installation. The premium-grade steel construction includes an integral gasket for moisture resistance to IP20 standard, and the switch carries BS EN 60669-1 compliance. Knightsbridge backs this model with a 25-year warranty.

Frequently Asked
What does 2-way mean?
A 2-way switch allows a single light to be controlled from two different wall locations. This switch has two gangs, so it controls two separate lighting circuits, each from two positions. Common installations include staircases (switch at top and bottom), hallways with entrances at both ends, or through-lounges where you enter from two doors.
What back box depth is required?
A minimum 16mm back box depth is needed. The screwless cover plate adds 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted, with a further 15.3mm recessed into the box.
Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?
Yes. The polished brass cover plate clips onto a separate steel sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the switch and re-clipped without disturbing the wiring.
What other finishes are available in this range?
Knightsbridge produces this screwless toggle design in polished chrome, brushed chrome, antique brass, matt black and white. Use the search function or category filters to find other finishes currently in stock at Niori.
