Description
The Knightsbridge 10AX 2-gang 2-way switch features a polished brass flat plate with matching metal rockers, projecting just 2.5mm from the wall once fitted. The 10AX rating handles lighting loads up to 2,300W per gang on 230V mains, making it suitable for circuits controlling multiple light fittings or higher-wattage downlights.
Designed for two-way switching applications where the same lighting circuit is controlled from two locations, such as at opposite ends of a hallway, top and bottom of stairs, or either side of a bedroom. The twin-gang format allows two separate lighting circuits to be controlled from the same faceplate, reducing the number of switch positions needed on the wall.
The flat plate construction uses premium-grade steel with a polished brass finish that develops a natural patina over time in high-use locations. The ultra-low 2.5mm projection from the wall gives a more discreet profile than standard switches, which typically project 8-10mm. The matching brass rockers sit flush with the plate when in the down position, maintaining the minimal aesthetic. A gasket behind the faceplate improves moisture resistance in locations near external doors or unheated hallways.
The switch requires a minimum 16mm back box depth and is certified to EN 60669-1. Knightsbridge backs the product with a 25-year warranty, which is longer than the typical 5-10 year warranty offered on budget switch ranges.

Frequently Asked
What back box depth is required?
A minimum 16mm back box depth is needed for installation. This is shallower than the 25mm depth required by most standard switches, making the flat plate range suitable for installations where wall cavity space is limited.
What does 10AX rating mean?
10AX means the switch is rated for 10 amps and suitable for inductive loads such as fluorescent or LED lighting circuits. At 230V this gives a maximum load of 2,300W per gang, which handles most residential lighting circuits comfortably.
What is two-way switching?
Two-way switching allows the same lighting circuit to be controlled from two different switch positions, such as at the top and bottom of a staircase. This switch provides the wiring terminals needed to create that configuration when paired with a second two-way switch.
Will the brass tarnish over time?
Polished brass develops a natural patina with age and handling, particularly in high-use locations. This is a characteristic of the material rather than a defect. The brass can be re-polished using a brass cleaner if a high-shine finish is preferred.
