Description
The Knightsbridge 10AX 1-gang 2-way toggle switch provides lighting control for circuits where two switches operate the same light fitting, finished in polished brass with a screwless faceplate. The 10AX rating handles loads up to 2,300W on 230V mains, covering standard domestic lighting circuits and higher-draw fittings such as multiple downlight arrays or fluorescent tube installations.
Designed for through lounges, hallways with switches at both ends, and staircases where one light is controlled from two locations, the 2-way switching allows the light to be turned on or off from either switch position. The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box, giving a clean finish without visible fixings once installed. The 87.5mm square faceplate sits 4.3mm proud of the wall and requires a minimum 16mm mounting box depth.
The polished brass finish is bright and reflective, suited to traditional, classical and warm-toned contemporary interiors. The premium-grade steel construction provides rigidity without warping under thermal cycling, and an integral gasket behind the faceplate improves moisture resistance around the switch aperture. The IP20 rating confirms this is suitable for standard dry indoor locations rather than bathrooms or outdoor use.

Frequently Asked
What's the difference between 1-way and 2-way switching?
A 1-way switch is used when a single switch controls a light. A 2-way switch is needed when two switches control the same light from different locations, such as at either end of a hallway or staircase. This product is a 2-way switch.
What back box depth is required?
The minimum mounting box depth is 16mm. The screwless cover plate adds 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted, with 15.3mm recessed into the mounting box.
Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?
Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the switch and re-clipped without disturbing the wiring.
What other finishes are available in this range?
Knightsbridge produces this screwless toggle switch style in multiple finishes including polished chrome, brushed chrome, brushed brass, antique brass, matt black and white. Use the search function or filters to find other variants in stock at Niori.
