Description
The Knightsbridge CU2100 is a 10AX 1-gang 2-way retractive switch with a white thermoset resin faceplate and rounded edges. The switch features a push-to-make mechanism that returns to the neutral position once released, indicated by the moulded PRESS marking on the rocker. This retractive action makes it function as a momentary-contact switch rather than a standard latching on/off switch.
Designed for door entry systems, access control panels, bells, buzzers and lighting control when paired with compatible dimming or relay modules, the retractive mechanism allows the switch to send a momentary signal without holding a permanent on state. The 2-way configuration supports integration into multi-point control circuits where switching from two locations is needed. The 10AX rating handles resistive loads up to 2,300W on 230V circuits.
The rounded-edge plate measures 86mm square with a projection of 11.3mm from the wall once fitted to a 16mm minimum back box. The thermoset resin construction includes an anti-microbial additive, making the switch suitable for high-traffic environments like schools, hospitals, care homes and offices where surface hygiene matters. The white finish is a solid colour moulded through the material rather than a surface coating, so minor scuffs do not expose a different colour beneath.
The faceplate fixes with two visible screws at the top and bottom. The IP20 rating confirms protection against fingers and solid objects larger than 12.5mm but no moisture resistance, so the switch is for dry indoor use only.

Frequently Asked
What does retractive mean?
A retractive switch returns to the neutral position once you release pressure on the rocker. It sends a momentary signal rather than staying in an on or off state like a standard latching switch. This makes it useful for door entry buzzers, bells and systems that need a push-to-activate function.
Can this be used as a normal light switch?
Not on its own. The retractive mechanism means it does not hold a permanent on/off state. It can control lighting when paired with a compatible dimming module or relay that converts the momentary signal into a latched output, but it will not work as a direct replacement for a standard 2-way light switch.
What does 2-way mean on a retractive switch?
The 2-way terminals allow the switch to be wired into circuits where control is needed from two locations, or where the retractive signal needs to be routed through an intermediate device. The term refers to the terminal configuration rather than the switch holding two states.
Is the white finish prone to yellowing?
The white colour is moulded through the thermoset resin rather than applied as a surface coating. Thermoset materials are more resistant to UV yellowing than thermoplastics, but some tonal shift can occur over years of exposure to strong sunlight. In typical indoor applications the finish remains stable.
