Description

The Knightsbridge 1-gang surface mount box is a white polycarbonate enclosure measuring 92.5mm square with a 32mm projection from the wall. It provides the mounting platform and cable containment needed when surface-mounting switches, sockets, dimmers or grid faceplates on solid walls, tiled surfaces or locations where flush back boxes cannot be chased in.

Designed for use with Knightsbridge screwless and flat plate electrical accessories, the box accepts standard single-gang faceplates and provides sufficient internal depth for the terminals and cable bends required by UK wiring regulations. The polycarbonate construction is rated IP20 for dry indoor locations including living rooms, bedrooms, offices, retail spaces and hallways. Two brass fixing inserts on the rear corners allow the box to be screwed directly to the wall surface.

The white finish matches standard white switch and socket plates, providing a neutral appearance that blends into painted walls and woodwork. The 32mm projection keeps the overall surface-mounted assembly relatively slim while accommodating the depth required by most single-gang accessories. The box carries a 25-year manufacturer warranty and does not include an earth terminal — earthing is handled via the faceplate and metal sub-frame where applicable.
