Display and storage in one

A bookcase or shelving unit is built to hold books, ceramics and ornaments while standing as a piece of furniture in its own right. Open shelves keep what you display in view, so the unit does double duty as storage and as something to look at across the room. How you arrange the shelves matters as much as the piece itself, since the contents are on show as part of the look.

Frames and finishes

The range is built around metal frames, some with glass and marble detailing. Finishes run from natural wood to black, letting you pick a warmer frame or a darker one to set against your walls. A unit with closed storage adds a spot to tuck away what you would rather keep out of sight, while open shelving keeps the pieces you want seen on display. Glass and marble detailing lifts the frame beyond a plain metal build.

Tall by design

These are tall builds, so they draw the eye upward and make use of height that often goes spare. Spread heavier items low and lighter pieces high, and leave a little breathing room on each shelf so the display reads as arranged rather than crammed. Grouping pieces in small clusters, with a gap between them, tends to look more considered than filling every inch.

Where they suit

A tall unit suits a living room, study or hallway with the height to fill, fitting neatly against a wall or into an alcove. Make sure the floor is level and the unit sits flush before loading the shelves, and place the heaviest items lowest so the piece stays steady once it is in use. Frequently Asked Questions

How tall are these shelving units?
The Belvedere and Brooks units are extra tall at over 170cm, designed to draw the eye up and make use of vertical wall space. Measure your ceiling height and any picture rail before ordering to be sure of clearance.

What finishes are available?
The range covers aged gold on the Belvedere unit, plus mottled black and brushed champagne on the Brooks metal frame. The mix of warm metallics and matt black lets you match either a bright or a darker scheme.

Do any of them have closed storage as well as open shelves?
Yes. The Belvedere unit pairs three open shelves with two doors, so you can display some items on view and keep others tucked away. The Brooks frames are open four-shelf designs for full display.

What materials are used?
Construction across the range uses metal frames with glass and marble on the Belvedere unit. A few designs have an industrial look, while others add glass or marble detailing for a softer, decorative finish.
