The Zew is a wall-mounted exterior light that fixes to a house front, entrance or garden wall. It throws light both up and down the surface, washing the façade above and below the fitting in two directions for a layered architectural effect. It runs from a 220-240V AC mains supply and takes two GU10 PAR16 lamps rated up to 35W each, so the tone and beam are set by the lamps you choose. With a compact body measuring 110 by 235 mm and projecting just 65 mm from the wall, it sits close and tidy against the brickwork rather than standing proud.

Mounted either side of a front door, along a porch or under a carport, the Zew picks out the wall texture and frames an entrance after dark. Coverage is best judged by its throw rather than a room area: each beam grazes the wall it points at, so the upward shaft lifts toward the eaves while the downward shaft pools light over the step or path below. Position it at around chest to head height for the most balanced up-and-down spread. Spacing several units evenly along a long elevation gives a repeating rhythm of light without flat, uniform fill.

The housing is aluminium alloy in a grey finish, built to sit outdoors against the weather. Its IP44 rating makes it splash-resistant and suited to sheltered positions such as porches, covered entrances and carports, though it should be kept clear of fully exposed spots that take direct rain or jets of water. Can the Zew be used outdoors?

Yes, it is rated IP44, which makes it splash-resistant and suitable for sheltered outdoor positions such as porches, covered entrances and carports. Keep it out of fully exposed spots that take direct rain or water jets, as IP44 does not cover those conditions. The aluminium alloy housing is built for weather in protected locations.

How does the up-and-down light effect work?

The fitting has openings at the top and bottom, so each GU10 lamp casts a beam in one direction. One shaft of light travels up the wall toward the eaves while the other pools downward over the step or path. The result is a twin wash that grazes the surface above and below the fitting.

Does it take a replaceable bulb?

Yes, the Zew takes two GU10 PAR16 lamps rated up to 35W each, supplied separately. Because the lamps are user-replaceable, you can set the brightness and colour temperature to suit the wall and swap them when needed without removing the fitting.
