Description

The Yalte is a garden spike light that pushes into soil to throw light upward across planting, low walls and garden features. It draws 8W and gives out 340 lumens at a warm 3000K, a relaxed warm-white tone that suits evening borders rather than bright task work. Across the Atlantic this style of fitting is sold as a landscape spike light or pathway light, used in much the same way to graze foliage and mark out planted edges. Running on a 220-240V AC mains supply, it is a straightforward addition to an existing garden lighting layout.

At 900mm on its spike, the Yalte sits up among shrubs and ornamental grasses, so it works well in flower beds, along border edges and beside steps or a path. The head can be angled to aim the beam where it is wanted, lifting a single plant, a wall panel or a small tree out of the dark. Coverage is best thought of in terms of throw rather than floor area: expect a focused pool of warm light over the feature it is pointed at, with softer spill around it, so several units spaced along a border give an even rhythm of accents.

The body is aluminium alloy in a black finish, sturdy enough to stay planted through the seasons, with an IP54 rating that handles splashes and sheltered, covered positions such as a porch or carport edge. It is not made for fully exposed spots, direct water jets or any kind of submersion, so keep it clear of standing water. The fitting is not dimmable and is rated for around 30,000 hours of use. Mounting is by ground spike only, staked into soil or a planted border. Other warm-white and wattage options sit within the wider Yalte range.

Frequently Asked

Is the Yalte suitable for outdoor use?

Yes, within limits. Its IP54 rating means it copes with rain splashes and sheltered, covered positions such as borders, planting beds and porch edges. It should not be used in fully exposed spots subject to direct water jets, and it must never be submerged.

Can the beam angle be adjusted?

Yes. The head tilts on the spike so you can aim the warm 3000K beam at a plant, wall feature or path edge. This lets you fine-tune each fitting after it is staked into the ground rather than being fixed to a single direction.

Does it run on mains power or a transformer?

The Yalte runs directly from a 220-240V AC mains supply, so no separate low-voltage transformer is needed. It should be connected by a qualified electrician using a suitable weatherproof outdoor connection.

How should the fitting be cleaned and maintained?

Wipe the aluminium alloy body and lens with a soft damp cloth to clear soil splashes, leaf debris and water marks, and make sure the power is off first. Avoid harsh solvents or abrasive pads, which can mark the black finish. A clean lens keeps the 340 lumen output and warm-white tone looking their best.
